2 Weeks

Thats right! It has already been 2 weeks since the little Ike man came into our world. It seems incredibly unfair that the last 2 weeks of pregnancy seem like an eternity... literally everyday seems like forever and then you have the baby and time FLIES!
It wasn't a fluke by the way... Ike has been sleeping 8-9 hours every night for about a week now. Then he gets up, eats and goes back to sleep for a few more. The kid is too easy. He definitely inherited his dads sleeping habits, which I am so grateful for. He still loves to be held by his sister and puts up with all the hugs and kisses from both of his siblings. He's a champ and hardly ever complains about anything.
Pep and Buggy have been outside with Dad a lot lately. Despite the fact that there was still snow on the ground until a couple days ago they have spent endless hours helping dad get a the goat pen ready to finally move our goats down here. Next will be the chicken coup and then we can start on the garden!! We are SO ready for spring!
AnDee spends a lot of her time climbing the trees while she is outside. Of course Pep wants to join in on the fun...
and while everyone else is outside, Mom is STILL stuck in the house but lucky for me I have a really cute reason to be stuck in the house. He is pretty easy to take care of too. He almost always looks like this...

 or this
 or this
He especially likes to sleep in the warm sunshine

And when the kids decide its finally time to come in and warm up a little, they like to join him in the warm sunshine.

Last Sunday we got a visit from two of our very favorite people and Ike got to meet Whit and Uncle Dyl for the first time!

The First Week

This kid is too easy. I keep thinking its a fluke and that he is just fooling me in to thinking he is an awesome sleeper when really its just a cruel joke. He was sleeping 6 hours at a time during the night. He would go to bed at 10pm, get up at 4am to eat and then back to sleep until about 10am at which point I would have to wake him up so I didn't explode. But... as of last night he is sleeping 8 hours straight. Please bless this continues.
The kid is the perfect example of health. He eats good sleeps good and is just happy in general. The only time he really gets upset is when we change his diaper. He doesn't like to be cold. He already has a favorite blanky that is key to his awesome sleeping habits.
His siblings LOVE him and he loves them. In fact, I think he is more comfortable in AnDee's arms than he is just about anywhere else. The girl will sit and hold him for as long as I will let her. We are talking literally over an hour of just sitting and holding a baby. Maybe this is normal for a 3 year old but my 3 year old doesnt generally sit for anything for over an hour straight. She is so good with him and is, as was expect, the biggest helper. She honestly has kept my house clean. I think people think that its me keeping everything picked up and orderly... nope! Its AnDee
Pep has been surprisingly affectionate with Ike too. He loves to give him hugs and kisses and is SO proud when he gets to hold him. He shows him off to everyone he can and has to tell everyone that his name is "baby Ike" Im glad that Pep is such a mellow and forgiving kid. He has had a lot less attention lately and aside from a few outburst aimed at his bossy big sister, he has been very tolerant and accepting of it all.
We are still getting used to this 3 kids thing. This one has been a little harder as far as adjustments go and we have had a little too much yelling and way too many emotional outburst (mostly from mom) but we are getting in to the swing of things. Im scared for tomorrow when Andrew has to go back to work full time. Pray for me :)
Ike turned 1 week on Friday! Its so crazy how fast they change in the first little while. Here are a few pics from his first week!
Pep even shares his choo choos with him. No one understands how big of a deal that is.

This baby sneezes more than anyone should have to.

And here he is at one week. He is getting more alert and bright eyed everyday. Love him!

The Low Down

Meet the new addition to the Naugle Family

His name is Isaac (Ike) Lorenzo Naugle and we are in love with him. 6lbs 12oz, 19 inches long and absolutely perfect and healthy.

Labor was... intense and fast but the quickness of it made it fairly easy and he came out perfect. He even managed to have a completely round head. We have decided its because he didn't even have enough time to develop a cone head. My doc offered to induce me at 39 weeks and I didn't have enough will power to say no. I should have... I know. But lets be honest, how do you say no at that point in your pregnancy when you are SO incredibly miserable? I couldn't muster up the strength to refuse. However, I did know that I really wanted to try to avoid pitocin because I wanted to attempt a drug free birth. I did make everyone aware that I wasn't totally determined not to get the epidural and therefor I would probably end up with one. When its so easy and they keep offering... its another thing that is hard to say no to.
We decided to break my water to see if that would get my body going on its own. I was warned that I was "on the clock" once it was broken. The hospital has rules about how long they will let you labor after your water is broken before they take the baby c-section. My Doc told me I had one hour to walk the halls and try to get some contractions going. It took about 3 min. Apparently my body knew what to do. I didn't even make it out the door before I felt the first little contraction. From there they came every 1 and 1/2 to 2 mins and just got stronger with every one. I needed a potty break so we swung by my room and thats when the real pain started. I decided I would lay down for a second because I was breaking out in full body sweats. When I did lay down though, my contractions slowed down to about every 4 minutes but they got WAY more intense. Andrew hadn't eaten anything and was getting hungry so he asked for my permission to go get something "real quick" So I sent him off. The nurse had disappeared and I couldn't reach the call button.... and of course thats when all hell broke loose ;) The contractions were hitting and not letting go at all in between. I didn't have time to breath. I WAS DYING!!! ok... I wasn't dying but I really wished I would. By the time Andrew got back, one look at me and he knew that I was having thoughts of suicide. I was about 2 hours in to labor and I WANTED THE EPIDURAL!!! (hehe) He sent for the nurse but by the time she arrived and then sent for the epidural it had been about another 35-40 minutes. They finally got the drugs in me but by that point I was at a 10 and ready to push. In a matter of about 10 min (during the process of getting the epidural) I had gone from a 6 to a 10.  Less than 15 min later my doctor announced that "We had a TOM!" (Im not sure why he chose to use the name Tom and not the word boy but he did)
So there you have it. They broke my water at 9:30 a.m. I had my first contraction about 5 min later and I delivered at 12:27 p.m. I definitely think the epidural took the edge off but I wasn't even close to numb... I felt everything. Which was good. I wanted that experience and although I was too big of a wimp to go all the way without drugs I feel like I got to experience the greater part of it. That being said... My deepest respects go out to those women who choose all natural birth. You are incredible. Seriously... not just because you can endure the pain but because you have an option not to and you choose to go through it anyway. I however will not be trying it again. (haha) I have decided that doing it again would make me a little fearful or apprehensive about delivery and I don't want it to be something Im nervous about. If I felt like it was harmful to the baby or was causing complications  somehow to get the epidural I simply wouldn't do it. But I have 3 extremely healthy children. Not a single problem with one of them and so I say... give me the drugs!

Dinosaurs!

AnDee has really been in to dinosaurs lately. She has a book that is nothing but info on dinosaurs. It has pictures but no story, just the names and functions of the dinosaurs and what time period they lived in... that kind of stuff. She spends about a half an hour a day just studying that book.
Lucky for us Andrews work provides free passes to Thanksgiving Point and even more lucky for us... Thanksgiving Point has a dinosaur museum! Free stuff is always better. So yesterday we got up from naps and went up to the museum! The kids LOVED IT! Im sure we will be going back. Pep was impressed with the dinosaurs but was calling all of them "crocodiles" (and yes he pronounces it perfectly) he was just as excited for the crocodiles as everyone else was with the dinosaurs.

It actually was a very cool museum. I had never been to a dinosaur museum so I enjoyed it as well.
After the museum Dad treated us to dinner and took us to the new outlets at Traverse Mountain. We just browsed but for those of you who care to know, the Columbia outlet that is up there pretty much rocked my socks off. Too bad Im the size of a planet right now and didn't dare buy anything. I will be going back. 14 days and counting...
Speaking of, AnDee informed me the other day that we could just get a knife and cut the baby out. I told her that might hurt a little but she told me it would be ok cause we could just glue it back together.
She was also just singing Disney songs to me. I always thought the song from Jungle Book said something like "the bear necessities" but I guess I was wrong. AnDee says it says "a pair of sesames" Good thing I have her to keep me straight.

St. George

So I have had a case of the winter blues for some time now. The snow is no longer any fun. Its been too deep to even play in (especially since Pep's legs are approximately 3 inches long) and on most days it has been bitterly cold. I needed out. The kids needed out. So we talked Dad into taking us to Nanny and Poppy's condo in St. George. This was our first time visiting the condo. My parents bought it last year as kind of a get away place for any of the family who would like to use it. It is SUPER nice and located on hole number 10 on a golf course. Too bad the only person in the entire family that golfs is Lance. It was a short little trip but very needed and very rejuvenating.
We got to play in the park! And throw rocks in the river! It was almost 60 degrees down there! We were only there Thursday night, Friday and then we headed home Saturday morning but it was worth the drive for sure. We spent Friday afternoon sitting in the front yard while the kids dug in the sand and "rock climbed" We didn't even need jackets!!! I wish we could go back and escape the cold again for a while but... my doctor says I cant go that far away. Boo.

I had to talk myself in to posting these pics... I just really don't like pics of my pregnant self but... its for the kids not for me... right?

This is exactly what Pep's face looked like every time he would swing forward... the weight of his head was just too much.
This is Pep telling Daddy "mon!"(come on) and then getting extremely angry and yelling "PEASE" (please) when he didn't oblige

AnDee has turned in to quite the protective big sister. I don't know how many times I heard her yelling at Pep "stay RIGHT BY ME!!!" so he wouldn't get hurt. What a good oldest child.

 Very pleased with himself...
"rock climbing"

On our way out of town we stopped at the wildlife museum. I was actually super impressed. There were a TON of animals... even a lot I had never even heard of. They gave the kids "noculars" to spot the animals with and there was even a thunderstorm inside the building. So cool.

Thank you Dad for taking us and a BIG thank you to Nanny and Poppy for providing such an awesome escape for all of us!

The Pep Boy

This kid is a delight 99.8% of the time. He can have quite the little attitude that other .2% though. Its mostly humorous at this point when he starts getting attitude but Im sure it wont be so funny in a few years.
He is starting to put sentences together now and I love how excited he gets over being able to communicate so well. He likes to use his communication skills to boss me around though. He "shooshes" us on a regular basis and gets fairly angry when we don't oblige.  He gets mad when I don't fold my arms the correct way during prayers and he likes to chime in every time AnDee is getting a "talking to"
He has become an expert in animals and their sounds. He even knows that camels carry water in their humps so they don't need to drink very often. One of his absolute favorite games right now is "guess what I am" He will crawl around on the floor pretending to be an animal and you have to guess what he is. His favorite animal to imitate is a frog which apparently says "oooo-deee!"
He has taken a liking to his sisters singing and has become quite the little singer himself. I LOVE listening to him sing. Cant understand a ding-dang word but he belts that jibberish like there is no tomorrow!
The Boy is starting to connect that there is actually a baby in Moms tummy. He will see pics of babies and get all excited, point to my belly and say "baby!!!"
He is OCD in a lot of ways. I think I have mentioned that he keeps his room spotless. Well he also cannot stand having messy hands or a messy face and for some reason having doors open drives him crazy! He runs through the house about 100 times a day and shuts all the doors. He really loves to run in circles around our living room and kitchen. He does about 600 laps a day doing this and when he does, he has to run by the pantry door. We really like to mess with him when he does this... We will leave the door shut for about 5-6 laps and then crack it just an itty-bitty bit but he catches it every time and has to stop and shut it. He doesn't ever miss it! Its so crazy and totally hilarious.
He is still totally obsessed with trains. Every where he goes, he has a train in his hand. He sometimes talks in his sleep and when he does it only involves three things. Mama, choo-choos and ba-bas. Its super funny when he yells choo-choo in the middle of the night.
He likes to call Nanny and Poppy. Anything he can use as a phone will suffice. Last night it was one of AnDee's dress up shoes and a few days ago it was a wafer cooking. Its always "Hello Poppy!" or "Oh HI Nana!"
Remember AnDee's hand stands? This is how Pep does it.

He loves to listen to his sister read. She tells the best stories and he always listens so intently.

He also has a strange obsession with his parents shoes and his Dads hats. My high heels seem to be a favorite because they make the most noise when he walks. And seeing as I literally never wear them... at least they are being put to use, right?
A couple of days ago I was looking through one of those little board books with him and he was telling me all the names of everything he saw. Bet you cant guess what this is? If you think its a clown you are wrong.

As soon as I opened this page he got a little excited and said "Um... GRAMMA!!"
In all fairness he's not that far off. I mean think about how old ladies do their hair and their crazy bright lipstick. He has a point.
He is an amazing sleeper and loves bath time. Half the time I cant get him to get out of the tub so I will drain all the water. He will stay in there until every last bit of water is gone and he is laying on the bottom of the tub, freezing. His favorite snack right now is "yogek" (yogurt) He downs insane amounts of yogurt daily.  He loves his puppies and is always covered in dog hair... which makes me want to puke
He is adorable and sweet and cuddly and SO MUCH FUN! I adore every minute I spend with him, even when he is yelling "please" at me, like its a requirement for me to obey when he says it. He keeps me laughing all day.
